How to Enroll

Application Process

FIRST:

Completely fill out the LEAP Admissions Application. Download a PDF version of the application and send or bring it to the LEAP office along with a $30 processing fee.

Complete a transcript request form and mail it to each post-secondary school you have attended. Download a PDF version of the form. If you are uncertain about whether you have enough transfer credits, please contact the LEAP office at (256) 726-7098.

Credit Requirements

To enroll in the LEAP program you must have at least 60 prior credits (70 credits for General Studies majors). We accept transfer credits from any school, as long as the school is accredited by a qualified accreditation body. We also accept military credits, but these may require some conversion.

If you have not earned the required amount of credits, you will be required to take additional college courses before you can enroll in the LEAP program. These courses can be taken from Oakwood University or any other junior or senior level college or university. Another option for meeting the credit requirement is to take on-demand courses from universities such as Louisiana State University or through Home Study International.

Credits received from repeating courses you have already taken will not count toward your credit requirements. Please contact the LEAP office prior to enrolling in any programs to determine the exact number of credits that you will need.

Transferring and Submitting Your Credits

All students must submit official transcripts from prior accredited schools and/or military education. We cannot accept unofficial transcripts. Download a PDF version of the transcript request form.

International Transcripts

We accept international transcripts from accredited colleges and universities. Please contact the LEAP office at (256) 726-7098 for assistance.
